New Play Development
Emerging Voices Staged Readings
Directed by Garry Davey
TheatreOne presents the 6th season of Emerging Voices, a
series of staged readings of new Canadian plays. Scripts
are selected from Theatre BC’s Canadian National
Playwriting Competition, and local and regional
playwrights are invited to submit new work. Emerging
Voices provides an important venue through which
emerging writers can have their plays workshopped by
professional artists and read before an audience,
receiving valuable feedback in this important part of
the creative process.
“The
feedback notes you sent me after the reading are
extremely helpful, some of the best I’ve had on a
script. …all of the comments were respectful,
constructive and insightful. I hope to have subsequent
productions of this play, …being part of Emerging
Voices will help make that happen. Thanks for your role
in Canadian new play development!” -Patti Flather (The
Soulmenders, Dec. 1, 2010)
